Set in a Greek village in the 1930's, after Lenio grew
up without a mother and an alcoholic father, her
relatives arrange for her to be married to a man from
out of town. What appears to be a great relationship
turns bitter when Lenio gives birth to a sick child.
The entire town blames her for it because of the genes
she inhereted from her father. She is forced to kill
her child in a moment of desperation and
confronts her husband. (Winner of the
